Do you feel a call to ministry but want more experience?

Our internship program is geared towards young adults from Alaska who are interested in ministry.
We hope to see CYAK interns flourish through a guided practical learning experience, growing in their gifts, and their sense of call to ministry as the local church benefits from their service. Fill out an application below so we can connect with you and find the best fit!
What are the expectations for cyak interns?
  1. Up to 20 hours of service committed to the church/ministry per week.
  2. Meet weekly with pastor or ministry leader for prayer, spiritual direction, and growth, consultation, encouragement, and guidance.
  3. Participates in CYAK Team conference calls, trainings, retreats, and, as deemed necessary, serve at regional youth events.
what are the expectations for the local church or ministry
  1. Work in conjunction with CYAK to provide clear and well-defined ministry responsibilities for the intern (I.e. job description).
  2. Meet weekly with the intern for prayer, spiritual direction, and growth, consultation, encouragement, and guidance, availability in answering questions.
  3. Have intern fill out evaluation at conclusion of internship as provided by CYAK.​
WHAt are Goals in connecting a CYAK Intern with a church or ministry?
  • Developing Native young adults into future Alaska church leaders through immersion into a ministry experience that will help them discern and prepare for their next step in ministry/vocation/
  • Developing a mentoring relationship between the intern and the supervising pastor or ministry leader.
  • A healthy setting, which provides constructive evaluation of the intern as well as space for spiritual growth.
  • A financial arrangement that does not create a hardship for the intern and the local church. The local church and the intern agree on housing, stipend, goals, time off, and general expectations before the internship begins.
how does the hiring process work?
  • Read about our open positions.
  • Complete either the interest form (if you’d like more information about open positions or potential opportunities) or the application form.
  • ​Someone will get back to you within a day or two of when you submit the form.
what if i don't currently find an open position that fits my skills and talents?
We always have opportunities available, even if they are not listed. Complete the interest form first. Someone will give you a call to discuss open positions and what may be a good fit for you!
Do I have to be involved with the covenant denomination already?
Nope.
