We share the love and hope of Christ 
with Alaska's youth and young adults.
Alaska is BIG! The landscape ranges from tundra to mountains to glaciers and volcanoes. This vast physical landscape provides unique opportunities and challenges, and is home to a vibrant cultural heritage.

For thousands of years, Alaska Natives have lived off these lands - relying on each other and the land for provision. Often traveling far distances for hunting and gathering. Today, a large number of Alaska Natives continue this rich way of life, living in rural villages which can only be accessed by plane, boat, or snowmachine.

However, there are still struggles. Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of suicide, teen pregnancy, and sexual abuse in the country. The United Nations considers the death by violent accident rate equivalent to a war zone. Because of various reasons including Alaska's remote geographical location, the struggles of Alaska Native people groups are not on the national radar.
And the question was asked: 
​"What is the Church doing for young people across Alaska?"
In 1992 Covenant Youth of Alaska was formed in responses to this crisis through the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (now the Alaska Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church). 

Today CYAK's team spans across the state and the country working in collaboration with churches and ministries to champion the cause of ministry to young people in Alaska. 

We are committed to the development of youth ministry in Alaska. This looks many different ways. We coordinate a team of youth leaders, churches, and volunteers who focus on ministering to students between the ages of 12 and 25. Our ministry to students ranges from running youth group in a small village, to equipping students for life with vocational training and Christian mentoring.

But it doesn't end there. Our partnerships are geared towards keeping youth and young adults within the "Continuum of Care". Whatever stage an individual is in, we want them to be supported and challenged to growth. By the time they turn 25, we want to see young adults transformed by the Gospel and leading their communities towards hope and health.
