Alaska Native Mentoring Program
The Alaska Native Mentoring Program (ANMP) was developed under CYAK as a new initiative to reach young Alaska Native males between the ages of 12–25. As the program develops, ANMP will be gender inclusive. The developing program looks to disciple new believers as a way to strengthen their walk with Christ. The program is in its infancy, but has plans in using a "tool box" (resource kit) which a mentor will use as a guide in a mentoring relationship. The tool box will be used in rural villages with volunteers as the base in which the mentoring relationships will begin.
ANMP will foster spiritual formation, cultural formation, life skills development and through partnership mentoring sites throughout the state. Sites will be developed through local churches in western Alaska then expanding statewide. The toolbox will be a resource for each mentoring site leader.
Dale Smith, Cup'iq, originally from Mekoryuk, is the Program Director. Dale has been developing the tool box and is excited in seeing the program flourish. Dale received his Master's degree from North Park Theological Seminary in Christian Ministry in May 2011.
